It’s Awkward Out There
When celebrating our son Chris's 28th birthday, someone asked the question, what has been the positive and negative of the pandemic? We all had the opportunity to share. And then Chris said, “I just don’t want it to be awkward anymore.”
From the mouth of babes (ok, at 28 he’s not a baby!). I thought that was the perfect word. It IS awkward out there. Everyone is masked and you can’t see their smiles. Because of the masks, few people make eye contact.
It’s strange.
So, how can we make it less awkward? I make it a point to make eye contact. I say hello to all who walk by me, even if they are looking down and away. I even say to the check out person, I’m smiling behind my mask. And you know what? It makes a difference! I find it changes the vibration, they chuckle. It feels different. It feels better! Try it, I think you’ll like it. BE the one to shine the light in the darkness.
